De jury heeft beslist! Concertband Maasmechelen wint het Vlamo Open Harmoniekampioenschap 2015 met 95,50% en mag onze kleuren vertegenwoordigen op het allereerste ECWO (Europees Harmoniekampioenschap)!
Uiteraard ook proficiat aan Koninklijke Harmonie van Peer (2e plaats met 91,50%) en Frysk Harmony Orkest (3e plaats met 81,33%).
Concertband Maasmechelen claims the winning title at the Vlamo Open Championship for Wind Orchestras under the direction of Mark Prils and will represent Belgium on the first ever European Championship for Wind Orchestras 2016 in Utrecht (NL). The Vlamo Open Championship for Wind Orchestras took place last Sunday (15/03) at the CC Zwaneberg venue in Heist-op-den-Berg and was organized by Vlamo (the Flemish Association of Nonprofessional Music Bands and Musicians).
Three wind orchestras from Belgium and the Netherlands tried to claim the title and were adjudicated by the internationally renowned Norbert Nozy, Marco Pütz (LU) and Jan Van der Roost. Concertband Maasmechelen convinced the jury by their outstanding performance of the test piece Namasé Rhapsody by Van der Roost himself and their own choice selection of The Lost Labyrinth by Kevin Houben.

- Kon. Harmonie van Peer conducted by Ivan Meylemans – 91,50%
- Frysk Harmony Orkest conducted by Thijs Oud – 81,33 %

Vlamo, the Flemish Association of non-professional Music Bands and Musicians, consists of 1100 associated amateur bands with more than 65.000 members. These bands are very different and varied: wind orchestras, marching bands, brass bands, pipers, symphonic orchestras, guitar ensembles, accordion orchestras, show bands, drum bands, and so on. Every kind of non-professional band is welcome within Vlamo. The individual musician, who isn’t playing in any kind of band is also welcome.
